1869 Kearsarge BBC Cabinets. Possibly the earliest known baseball cabinet photos. Cabinet photos were in their infancy in the late 1860's and these photos retain the red perimeter line that was typical to the CDV's that preceeded cabinet cards. These cabinets were produced by Kimball Bros. of Concord N.H. All of the players are identified (there are a total of 11 cabinet photos of different players) as well as their positions. One of the players is Howard Kimball, quite likely one of the "Kimball Bros" that produced the images.

Default Wheat

The Wheat has no writing on the back but I am guessing he is about 15.

My Nebraska Indians cabinets....bummed that I got outsniped on one I need on ebay tonight.

Same photo as the above, but it is a smaller sized cabinet and if you look closely the date was changed from 1901 to 1902 on the chest protector

Default Zach Wheat Swinging

That photo of Zach Wheat swinging has a 3-dimentional quality to it. Truly amazing look for the time, and it really stands out. Thanks so much for sharing.

Hey Scott, If Michael wants to add my group to his "earliest card" collection, he's welcome to it for a small percentage of what he's asking for his CDV set!
