I have to admit I would be a bit disappointed if I created something as nice as you did, Matt, and Nolan didn't acknowledge, but I guess he'd probably seen hundreds of painted images in his career. That is one beautiful painting!

Very nice thread - I've always liked picking up original art pieces, especially artwork used in the creation of cards. Anyone else been picking up any of the artwork Upper Deck commissioned for their Masterpieces and other artwork based sets? I really appreciate the talents of some the folks they used for these sets - Chuck Gilles, Ron Stark, Andy Jurinko, Darryl Vlasak, and Arthur Miller to name a few of my favorites. I'll try to post pictures of a few I've picked up.

I earlier posted some of my older artwork. As many of you may know, my spouse Jennifer Ettinger has been painting baseball images (as well as dogs, cats and whatever else wanders in the door) for the last 18 years. She is fortunate enough to have 22 of her paintings blown up and on display at Nat Bailey Stadium in Vancouver

Here's a shot of the Stadium . She has also recently competed two paintings of the Stadium, one of which is here

and the stadium has a baseball card as part of the team set, which is pretty cool

She's done quite a number of baseball paintings, which can be seen here http://www.flickr.com/photos/basebal...7594074775860/

Finally, she's working on a 21 painting commission of New York Yankees. Here's Keeler and Chesbro

Your wife is very talented, Max! About the only thing I know about painting is that I can't do it, unfortunately!

Here are a couple of pictures of some of the UD artwork I have picked up in the past couple of years:

Thanks Max. I first learned about Dohanos when I saw one of his works on display at the HOF. That one was used for the cover of an October 1952 Satruday Evening Post. I think his work is terrific illustration art.

Max..............Your wife is an awesome artist! I would love to paint as a profession. That image of Chesbro is beautiful. What's the medium and size?

It's a rough gig being an artist. It's a lot of sweat equity that in most cases isn't rewarded in the marketplace. Even after you're an established artist, you're always trying to figure out where the next commission or sale will come from (which in some ways is like any other business--however, I don't seem to have to worry about tax miscreants finding me in my business)

Matt
It's acrylic on canvas, 14 x 18. Most of her paintings are larger.

I thought I would post a couple of her less representational works.

This is mixed media, with a photo of Lou (not Type 1 ) with discarded text from Pride of the Yankees.

For "modern" baseball art:

And finally, the artist often has a message for her spouse when he doesn't quite understand the artistic process, as demonstrated in this shot from her sketchbook at the ballpark
