here's my opinion: you're probably not the first who's entertained that idea and i bet this card has been submitted more than once for a crossover into the big 2.

I would crack it out of the GAI holder before sending to SGC or PSA. Prefer SGC, I just want to know if any of you eagle eye experts can see anything on this card that would keep it from receiveing a grade from SGC or PSA. I would rather have it in a SGC 88 or PSA 8 holder. dont care about it crossing to a 8.5. just want to know if it will grade by SGC or PSA

I heard sending cards in PSA or SGc in anonther company holder in not good idea. its like a automatic turn down vs sending it in raw

Maybe for PSA, but not SGC. SGC grades the card and will give bumps where warranted. I've had several PSA 4s come back SGC 60s -- big cards like Cobb and Grove, too.

Hard to tell conclusively from the scan, but the top border on the back looks pretty uneven. The bigger ? for me is for a card this desired and valuable, why didn't the previous owner(s) sub it to PSA or SGC instead of GAI? The obvious answer is maybe they did and it didn't pass. JMO . . .

Trimmded top? I was thinking the same thing, look how on the back near #92 the edge suddenly dips downward

Agree. At first, I looked at the front and thought it was trimmed but thought that may be the holder. Once you zoom in on the back though, the card looks trimmed.

I would bet that card has been sent in to both and probably more than once.
I would also bet if it could have gotten an 8 or 88 it would already be in that slab. I dont see that card getting out of the GAI slab. |

The shadows from the holder make it hard to say for sure. If it measures correctly then I don't see how the kind of trim suggested by the shadows makes sense for anyone to try. I would be optimistic about a crossover. But I have a terrible eye for trims.

knock at least 2 grades from gai cards, that's my experience with anything over a gai 5...so put this one as a M/G 80/6.
does these old gai holders have a site to verify cert #s? |

Fastest possible depreciation - from 8.5 to AUTH in the time it takes to crack the case.
I'd keep it in the holder and send it in for a crossover but I have my doubts about that being able to cross over. Some people indicated that the seller should have sent it to SGC or psa before sending it to GAI. Keep in mind that for a short period of time people thought that GAI was actually on par with the top 2 TPGs. But after a while it became painfully obvious that GAI was slabbing trimmed cards with numerical grades. I honestly beleive that GAIs slabbing practices had an impact on their submissions. They turned from a top TPG alternative into a TPG on par with PRO grading, but with a little more respect. Unfortunately most hard core collectors understand what's (potentially) in the GAI slabs. I'm hoping you can cross it over and I hope the card can receive a numerical grade.

You never know...I had a GAI ex+ (it did look possibly trimmed by the scan but once I had the card in hand was confident it was good) I cracked it out and sent to PSA...it came back as a nm7. I know this was more the exception than the rule.
