I got a sweater. If you stand 200 feet away in the dark, it might resemble a 1910s baseball sweater.

After making sure everyone else in my family had a great christmas, I decided to get a present from me to myself....

Wanted to have the card in hand before I said anything

Merry Christmas every one.

Nope, not this year. I got a new pair of loafers.
Great to have my daughter home from college and the whole family together for a couple of weeks. Santa turned over the sleigh for the kids though! That made my Christmas seeing them.

That and the fact that this was first year in a few I didn't have to darken the door of the Apple store!

I'm sorry this isn't prewar but I had to share this story.

My wife has always been amazing at finding card for me to help in my obsession. This year was no different. Our budget is modest so I usually settle for lower conditioned cards to fill my sets but she always takes the time to find nice cards with great eye appeal for me. I am hopeing to start to build a 1952 Bowman set so she found a great example of Roy Campanella for me. When this card arrived our local postal carrier thought they would be helpful and deliver all of the mail onto out front porch instead of the mailbox (there were other larger packages that day).

Unknown to my wife inside of the house and before she found the mail outside our friendly, yet apparently chew happy beagle named Rascal found the mail for her. He chewed up all of the mail including the bills (not so hard to replace) as well as my wife treasure for me on Christmas day (not so easy to replace).

When my 11 year old daugther saw the dog with something in the backyard she alerted my wife and the chase comensed. After a bit of struggle my wife and daughter managed to corner Rascal and retrive his "prize".

As you can see from the scans the card was actually undamaged in this melee although I can't say as much for the graded case it came in.

I love my wife but I'm glad I wasn't the dog or the person who answered the phone at out local post office that day.

Drew

Drew now you have a decision to make. Take it out of the case or keep it in for the memories!

Default Topps Set

My four year old son got the complete 2011 Topps set (not that exciting I know) but the best part was when he wanted me to sit with him and read off the name of every card in the set (all 660). Favorite card was Billy Butler because his name is Billy.

Default Me too!

I got that same bathroom reader book this year
Pretty cool, I read a few pages and actually knew most of the answers.

For those of you who have heard of OBC, we have a Secret Santa exchange every year...this year I must have been high up the "nice" list as my Santa mailed a 67 topps Mickey Mantle!!

And I also received a bit o'spendin' cash with which I'll be browsing the BST section to get myself sumthin' nice

Default It was a very merry...

My wife also picked me up the back issues of Old Cardboard, but she upgraded and got me the Pre-war card posters, too. Even got them framed. Now all I got to do is find an empty wall in my study to display them. Very cool!

Best regards,

Joe

My wife got me a table for my memorabilia room. My other table didn't go good with my stadium chairs I picked up last month.

Hey Dynarl,

If my wife sees a picture of that table she would have to have it. Very cool!

Had a nice visit from Santa at my house. I got a 1933 Goudey Rogers Hornsby, a T205 Eddie Collins and the book "The Glory of Their Times.

All the best to everyone on the board for a great and safe New Year!

Thanks Joe My wife found it in the back room of a consignment shop. I think she got it for the players that came with it.
