Not that many care for this fugly set... 1912 W-unc, which I believe is complete. That is, unless there truly is a Tommy Leach out there.

Default In 2011...

In 2011 I finally completed my 1941 Goudey Master set. All 33 cards in all 4 colors. I also reached 500/524 on the T206 set in PSA 3+.

In 2012 I would like to get to pick up one new T206 card per month and reach 512/524. This should be only limited by my financial willingness to spend. I also had enough extra 1941 Goudeys that a second master set is only a dozen cards away. This will be much, much tougher to get done in 2012. I'd also like to put together T205 and T207 Brooklyn sets but fear a couple of the cards will have to wait.

Default 2011 and 2012

In 2011 I finished the 1961 Topps BB set that my dad and I started several years ago - and he's still around to see it to completion. I also finished a 1970T FB set.

For 2012, I'd like to finish the 1975T FB set I'm working on (no toughies here, just haven't done it yet), continue working on my 1978T BB autographed set, and collect as many pre-war 'Jordan' cards as I can - four down, ?? to go.

Default goals

one thing completed in 2011 was an accounting of all my type cards on
plaques with type designation (T,E,R,etc.),year of card,company, name of player. It took three plaques with lots of engraving but it's done, thankfully;
the same was also done for my packs, pouches, tins. Well over 200 different entries for these two tasks. Ishould also add that all my type cards and packs, pouches, tins are framed and on display at my office. Obviously, at times, several are framed together but often i've limited the frame to simply one card or pack. My framer is quite happy.
as a type collector 1900-39, i'm hoping to complete the R's soon in 2012 since i lack four at this point.
happy holidays and happy new year, everyone.
best,
barry

Well done on the Goudey master!

Best of luck for 2012! On the plus side, the T207 Brooklyn subset is by no means one of the hardest team sets - except for one or two semi-tough Recruits, they're straightforward. They've all been on eBay this month - most of the 12 still are.

I expect Ragan and Miller to be the problem cards in the T207 Brooklyn set.

This year I continued the hunt for the Monster. I have close to 200 cards so far. I picked up a lot of HOFers and got good deals on graded commons at a number of shows. My set is lower grade, so the cost was rather reasonable.

I did acquire a number of "iconic" cards that I have wanted for some time: three Goudey Gehrigs, a Wagner (not T206!) two non-T-206 Planks, a '53 Mantle (just love the look of that card), and a few other random HOFers in different sets.

This year I will continue to focus on hunting the Monster and working on a 1934 Goudey set, which I am about 16 cards in.

I didn't finish anything in 2011. I am 2/3 of the way to completing my 34 Goudey set. This year I would love to finish the set and pick up some random pre war HOF's.

Silly me - I should have known better. That's what happens when Autofilter is on in your spreadsheet and you're under cold medication! Yes, definitely to Ragan, but O. Miller, maybe not so much. Higgins is probably as tough.

The only thing I completely finished is a 52 bowman set.

I got within 2 of 518 t206's. Within 2 of t205 hofer subset. Within 5 of e120 hofer subset. Within 5 of 33 goudey hofer subset.

In 2012 I hope to finish 518 t206's, t205 hofers, get within 1 on the e120's, and pick up another 33 goudey Ruth if one falls into my price range. I'll be on the look out for a Demmitt and Ohara PB and will pick one up if the stars align.

Also venturing down the path of pre-war type cards. Still in the wandering around phase on that.

Everyone have a great Holiday Season!

Started collecting T206 Cleveland cards in November, got 8 of 25 cards so far--all at extremely reasonable prices thanks to a couple of great guys on the B/S/T. Hope to get all the commons in 2012, and maybe a Young or Lajoie.

I started the T206 set this year. I have 311 59% 4+ so far. Hoping to have 80% by end of the year.

Default I will never stop...

...chasing every known (and unknown) signed T206 card in existence.

Since this chase now has long droughts, I have just started picking up colorful strip cards. I got inspired -- isn't it great when that happens!? -- at a card show when a dealer sold me over 30 strip cards in a group for $112, including a Ruth and a Cobb.

This year, with the help of a top notch board member, I ended a 6, almost 7, year hunt for a T206 Gibson with a Hindu back. It took until last year to even see visual proof that the card existed, and then a few months ago, lightning struck.

I haven't taken delivery of this card yet, but once I do, I fully expect that I will lose any recollection that my original intentions for 2012 were to be basically inactive. Instead, I will set the Hindu next to the EPDG Gibson I have [only T206 holdover from my Gibson collection], and see nothing but 8 holes that need filling.

And so, for 2012 I'll set the modest goal of simply adding 1 or 2 T206 Gibsons back to my collection, in casual pursuit of a complete Gibson back run.

Thanks all, for sharing your progress and visions.

Best of luck in 2012 to all!

Regards,

Richard.

Best of luck Richard - it'll be great to see that run come back together!
