David, Next time I come out there I will have to look you up. I usually come out there a couple times a year to fish. You are on the other side of the island from Kailua Kona where I go but I need to see the other side some day. I will all ways come for the HIBT. It would be nice to talk cards some time when I come.

ha ha ha You know....I don't even own a radio or a car/truck. Been offered computer instruction but declined. How would my lack of scanning affect my pursuit of the master monster?? I was thinking of buying a large lot or two and mesh them with mine...see what's left over.
Texx what do you fish for? Billfish? Did you ever see all the mounts in the King Kam Hotel...I think they remodeled and are gone now, they were awesome. Look me up.. I'm in the book, perhaps fkw, you and myself can talk turkey (reds).ha ha. aloha, dave. PS do any surfing? |

We usually stay at the King Kam Hotel. The big one is still there. They sure go messed up last year. Once you catch a 700lb marlin it's hard to fish for bait.

Lord knows I've had to do my share of horse trading/scanning to get the few cards I was after and I ended up with my share of dups and that was know 5000+ examples project. John |

And even if you don't want to sell, part of the joy of collecting for me is sharing those choice pickups with fellow collectors. That's why we're here, right? And what's a post without a picture?

Hi David - I've finally had a chance to tally some numbers for you to think about in regards to a T206 Master Set. These numbers are based on a collaborative effort between myself, Jim Rivera, Art Martineau and Brian Weisner.
The total number of confirmed front/back combinations for all brands that we have at this time is 5,030 cards. The maximum number that are theoretically possible are 6,068 cards. Included in this count are several back brands with a large number of unconfirmed cards that will ultimately be moved to no print lists reducing this number. If we combine the confirmations of what we do have, with what we know about the composition of the set, the number of subjects believed possible at this time is 5,483. This number will move up or down in the coming years as we continue to learn about the sets composition and new confirmations come in but it's not expected to be subject to big swings. Great records have been kept about many of the tougher backs for years but close study of some of the most common backs is relatively new. Again thanks to Craig Wright who has been a big help with that work. A couple more things about the numbers, the counts did include Old Mill-Brown and Ty Cobb. If you don't want them included then your numbers should be 5,019 - 6,034 - 5,449 I hope this is helpful in some way. Last edited by Abravefan11; 11-29-2011 at 02:19 PM. |

Hi Yall! Aloha! First off much mahalos for everyone's advice it is greatly appreciated. 5000+ cards seems pretty dismaying, but I'll give it a shot. I think the first 2 or three years should be easy enough to locate common backs that I don,t have but when it gets down to rare backs I'm sure I won't even be able to find many of them....I think the fun will be to just plug away at it and pick up what I can when I can (within my budget). Darn I think back to when I was buying some of these T cards for a buck or two or three and must have passed on scarce backs because I already had that card (front) back in the early days few collectors and few dealers ever considered the backs as common or scarce....back varieties weren't considered except by few.
Secondly..OK Ok OK I will ask Santa for a scanner and or high tech camera or something so I can get some pictures up and keep those interested in my masochistic attack of the master monster posted......here's hoping I don't fall flat on my face. (It wouldn't be the first time) Aloha, Dave. |
