He drove just as he lived, fast and hard. Soon he would be going from the bike to big 12 cylinder Packards and Lincolns. He was lucky, involved in 3 roll overs while speeding. I have a number of news articles, his driving violations. One where he was arrested and spent a few hours in Jail.
Upon release his unifrom was brought to the jail and he was given a police escort to get him to the Polo Grounds in time to get into the game. Witnesses claim the police were far exceeding the NY city speed limit in order to get Babe to the Polo Grounds on time.
