1. 1930 Goudey Ruth fiasco
2. Collector Forensic Service
3. Gretzky Wagner being trimmed threads

I love a good controversy or conspiracy theory.

Strictly for pure drama, the steaknchop thread is always the most memorable for me. Hell, it resulted in a bunch of hangup calls, random facebook requests from that clown, and of course his father threatening to sue...And lets not forget all the great corned beef hash jokes..

Based solely on content, there are way too many great threads, but the "Earliest Collectibles" thread is probably the one that I go back to the most for reference...

Default Good Threads

My vote for the trainwreck thread award goes to Bruce for his continued arrogance over an extended amount of time...Thanks Leon for finally putting that to rest !!

The best information based thread IMO goes to Ted for the compiling of the checklists for the T-206's. I refer to that thread weekely !!

Yes, Bruce threatened to sue Mr.Archive. That is the funniest I can recall.

There are too many good threads for me to say which I think would be the best. Certainly Ted's T206 threads, even with a few issues surrounding a bit of the data, are some of the best. I think we all need to be very careful when assimilating, and making public, data which is verified. This aspect of data collection goes all the way back to Burdick's days.

The letter to STATS, on authenticity, was the most replied to thread.

And lastly there was one when a famous authenticator got called out pertaining to authenticating bats/gloves he was selling, which changed the hobby a bit, vis a vis transparency and conflict of interest. That was one of the best to me. regards

Generally, I think of the train wrecks as the worst threads, not the best. The best are the ones that provide useful and informative information about cards.

I will second that. Ted's T-206 list and Phil's Earliest Collectibles list are probably the two most important and informative list's that have been compiled for these threads. Phil's got the HOF Rookie card list started as the "Earliest collectibles counterpart, and that should prove equally as important. There was the "HOF rookie card A-C" thread that got started a while back, that allowed for the "latest acceptable" rookie cards to also make the list. I think with a little work and obvious completion, that might be a great list as well to go along with Phil's lists.

Default My favorites

I liked the T202 Joe Jackson and the Lost "Magie error" card at PSA lawsuit.
