I'm thinking it's an impromptu match between everyman's favorite team's two most hated rivals. (Any fan is welcome to pick any two nemeses.) Since it's a New Jersey card, Red Sox fans would contend it's an interleague game between two local most-hated rivals: the National League Mets (recalling the '86 World Series) and, of course, the A.L. Yankees (in consideration of almost any other year).

That same seller had a supposed Jackie Robinson signature on a postcard end for under $100 that I was watching.

I thought the signature looked funny, so I watched to see where it would end. Could just be the scan, but the signature looks a bit shaky.

I don't know the real old stuff well, so I wouldn't begin to know if some of what else he is selling might be bogus. Anyone familiar with this seller?

Probably has something to do with some form of contest or local fair at that time. All in fun most likely.
Looks disturbing to us but probably not a big deal back then.

Hi Curt,
gtp.ro (Dan Yaw) is one of the bigger baseball related postcard sellers on eBay, Ive bought from him dozens of times over the years, lots of good stuff, and some very rare too.

If that Robinson is real then, someone got a smoking deal.
