Anyway, I've never seen any balls that gehrig signed that were even close to this. This one is slow and calculated so why not write closer to his normal sig?
There was a Dusty Rhodes who played with the Yankees in the 20s and 30s, long before the other Dusty Rhodes made a name for himself in the '54 World Series.

Could this be the same ball sold by Christie's in 1998?

Also, I'm wondering about the LOA which specifically mentions an embossed seal that should appear over Spence's signature which my eyes can't see in the scan. The wrinkle in the paper to the right shows up, but I don't see any embossing on that page. Maybe nothing, but strikes me as odd.

Thanks for the info. I was not aware there was another Dusty Rhodes, and since he played for both NY and BOS, it still fits with my theory of multi signings during those and a Detroit game (I don't believe it was an All Star game based on the combo of players...Goslin 1936 only and Ruth 33 and 34, etc). Still believe the Gehrig is a clubhouse.

Doubt it since it didn't highlight Babe Ruth's name as one of the signees.
