See how the fountain pen writing on the front of the check is not feathered? That's 'cause it was written before the paper had aged for fifty-or-so years. A good forgery, but a forgery nonetheless."

That's because it's a ticket stub--made of cheap, porous cardboard. Ink doesn't feather on writing paper unless the paper is old.

Yes, interesting. I'd never heard the feathering thing before.
If anyone's curious, the bank became Chase Manhattan in 55, and Chase still has a branch at that address. Steve B |
