I have been doing volunteering at the Salvation Army for over 10 yrs. Most of the classes are about 80% black and 20% white. I can tell you that most of those guys just want a job. A lot of the black vs. African American thing has to do with respect, imo. If you respect someone it shows in more than your words. I have asked them on numerous occasions which term they (the blacks) prefer. Most of them don't care. We are too sensitive nowadays. Again, just my opinion.
