Although they rarely sell pre-war, burbanksportscards is notorious for being overpriced. I agree with others that yepbg's prices are ridiculous and clearly the seller has no interest in moving inventory.

Default Dealers

My vote goes to 707. It seems like they have more of the items that I collect but they are typically 3X the anticipated price.

Default Divide

If you want to know the true value (seriously) look at 707s BIN prices, divide by 2, and that is basically what the vcp is of said card. Seriously. Try it.

Yes these sellers have very high bin's (707 & yepbg) but as a seller they are keeping the hobby from a going in a decline. I cannot count the amount of auctions I have done where the final sale price is at 80-95% of the lowest listed bin regardless of vcp and if these sellers priced there cards to sell it would be 10-40% lower for some current auctions where they have the only similar item.

Hmm. Don't know that I agree with that. If keeping the hobby from going into a "decline" involves dumbasses looking at incredibly inflated prices as a basis for their bidding strategy, then that house of cards is going to fall anyway. At least hopefully, there aren't enough really stupid people to keep that dynamic going.

Perhaps I'm foolish, but at least from the collecting standpoint, I tend to believe that the people who are in the market have done their homework before they jump into buying the higher level vintage. If they haven't, they get what they deserve. If they have done their homework, they ought to realize that neither the prices of 707 or those of yepbg bear any resemblance to the actual market and make their decisions accordingly. The idea that a couple of dealers whose prices are astronomical should somehow be viewed as keeping the hobby afloat, IMO, is complete BS.

Default Yepbg

I am banned from bidding on Yepbg's stuff because I ridiculously offered $875 shipped for a card that was listed at a round $1000.

Not only is he incredibly high but he is pretty rude and arrogant as well.

My guess is that has cost you several bids a year.

Yeah, what's the downside? Who ever bids in any of his auctions?

I can't speak to the current situation, but I did get some reasonably priced stuff from Levi when I was actively involved in vintage collecting. He can't be an expert on every price nuance. Additionally, he was always a pleasure to both buy from as well as to sell to. He paid fair prices on stuff he wanted of mine and was typically willing to take 10% or so off of his cards that I bought. He is a decent guy and I always had good interactions with his people.

If someone is "overpriced", just stay away from his stuff. If they are a jerk, then don't deal with them. But if someone is pleasantly firm on their pricing, there's certainly no reason to take it personally. It's simply a business transaction.

Yepbg has a lot of value for me. I take his prices and divide by 4 (usually, but sometimes more) to establish a true market value. Sort of my own free VCP.
But I do like his inventory.

And "burbanksportscards" wins my award for the most ridiculous scans. I think when you click to enlarge, the scans get smaller with these guys.
