I was looking at Eric's Gypsy Queens- they are indeed beautiful- and I see one of the labels read "salesman's sample." I've never heard of a saleman's sample before in that context. Is that labeled correctly? If it has a very thick mount wouldn't it have been cut from an advertising sign? Curious if anyone knows more about it.

Barry,

Apparently it was acquired years ago from a Terry Knouse find. I'm told Terry is one of the foremost experts on 19th century cards and he believes that this GQ Keefe was a sample card that a salesmen traveled with, and SGC holdered it as such. It is thicker than a standard OJ or Gypsy Queen card.

Personally I don't buy into the hype, I'm just happy to have the HOFer GQ card.

Eric
