It was Yogi Berra Day and he caught the first pitch but isn't it significant who threw it to him?

The San Diego Padres have never had a pitcher throw a no-hitter since their inception in 1969. They've also never had a player hit for the cycle. Pretty sad, when you consider that a few players have hit for the cycle twice, Bobby Doerr being one.

I stand corrected, the Mets are not the only team without a No-Hitter to their credit. If it's any consolation, San Diego can take credit for Don Larsen and David Wells, both of whom graduated Point Loma High School in San Diego. Thanks for posting, TED Z |
