Default REA Piedmont Plank

I put a bid on this card the first day, and was stunned to see the final price of over $35k w/o the bp.

I was thinking if I won the card - Would I have the borders restored, or just leave it alone? Either way, it would still grade the same - Authentic.

Just wondering anyone else's thoughts on this? If you won the card, would you restore the borders?

Would it hurt the value if is was restored?

Any thoughts?

Tony

I won the T204 Plank and now have an SGC 60 dupe that needs a new home. Also won the Rose PC's, which I'm gladly keeping, and the Max Stein group of 7. A couple of those are going elsewhere, but I'd be willing sell or trade McGraw, Bodie, Tinker and the Cubs outfield. And maybe the Wagner, if I got the right offer.

This was the year I was going to sit it out. My lack of willpower is shameful.

Edited to add: the real-time chat last night was very enjoyable. Thanks to Matt for defeating both Al Qaeda and the Japanese to make that accessible again.

Just got back from going to Les Miserables with my daughter. Finally saw it after several years of wishing.
Here's some of the cards from the lot I won, don't worry I won't post all 124!

Default Les Miserables

I won the T216 Mino Demmitt, the e92 Crofts red back Davis, and the 3 E105 Mello Mint commons. Bob, nice lot you won. Congrats on Les Miserables as well.

They aren't cards, but I took home these two lots . . . very excited.

I didn't win anything. I was outbid on a few items at around 3:30 am. I wish it would have ended sooner.

Nice pickups everyone. I was in and out quicker than I was in high school.
Still fun to see what everyone got. Congrats...

Even though i am on the west coast i cant stay up that late

Best pickup is surely Steve's. The lil' fella looks high grade to me but please don't slab him

My eye was on the Yorks, but I only wanted a few cards. I didnt want to tie up that much cash knowing how dumb I get about having dupes...instead of selling/trading I just start a second set...no willpower and lazy
so the winner of any of the Yorks, contact me if you have extras for sale. I need several upgrades although my base set (type 1) is complete.

Keeping in mind that I am not even close to being an advanced collector:

Personally, I would restore the card. It has already been trimmed and will never grade higher than "AUTH" so why not improve its appearance? Like the T206 Wagner in this auction - it was restored twice, the second time to improve it even more.

I have no idea if it would hurt the value, however.
