I looked into this once and noticed that there were 2 or 3 players who retired in 1921 or 1922 who made it into the set. I can't remember off hand who they were. But with the evidence Bob mentions, it's impossible for the set to have been issued in 1922. So I think we have to write off these 2 or 3 players as oddities, like the M101-5 Chance showing him with Chicago, where he hadn't been since about 1912.

I went through some of the players in the set and two (Grainor and Milan) retired in 1922 and Rube Marquard who was listed with Brooklyn, actually was on the Boston Braves in 1922-1924. |
