I guess it pays to know people...I would have paid a LOT for the Hagen and Jones even in a 2 grade

Dave -

Just casually observing other sales / auctions - - It seems there have been many more Jones cards offered than Hagen. Actually - I don't remember a Hagen being offered

I know they are all tough.... but is the Hagen even tougher than the Jones (based on your experience)?

Joe,

I have seen 3 of each:
- Hagen's (PSA 2, SGC 84/7, ungraded EX)
- Jones (PSA 2, SGC 80/6, PSA 6)

The SGC population report also shows a Hagen SGC 40/3 and a Jones SGC 50/4, so I guess I sort of know of 4 of each.

I don't know what the PSA population is on the Jones or Hagen. My membership has expired.

Thanks Jason.

It appears they are about the same then (as far as how often they show up).

FWIW I have bought and sold three Jones, two Hagens, five Melhorns but only one McCarthy over the past six or so years.

just arrived from the recent Green Jacket auction.....

(scans and descriptions fron the auction house)

Item 1 - (one of my all-time favorite players)....

Gary Player Signed Masters Caddie Coveralls Nameplate
Presented here is a great item commemorating Gary Player and The Masters Tournament.
This is an exact replica "PLAYER" nameplate from the white coveralls famously worn by caddies at the Masters.
Gary Player has beautifully signed the nameplate.

Item 2 - (this thing is huge!)

2004 US Open Street Pole Banner
Actual New York Street Light Banner
Advertising 2004 U.S. Open
This original light pole banner hung on a New York street light near Shinnecock
in the weeks leading up to the 2004 U.S. Open. It measures approximately
2' x5' It has a different graphics on each side, one of which contains the famed
Shinnecock Indian logo.

Item 3 - (very cool)

Pair of 2002 US Open Street Pole Banners
Actual New York Street Light Banners
Advertising 2002 U.S. Open
These two original banners hung on New York street lights near Bethpage
Black in the weeks leading up to the 2002 U.S. Open, which was won by Tiger
Woods. The two banners make up one set, and were hung together on the same
pole. Each has the same graphic on both sides. The total of the two together is
34" x 42"

Item 4 - (jaw dropper - IMO!)

1933 Ryder Cup photo - autographrd by Gene Sarazen
This is an original 1933 Ryder Cup large format photo of the 1933 Ryder Cup
Team, which included Walter Hagen, Gene Sarazen, Horton Smith, Paul
Runyan, Craig Wood, Ed Dudley, Johnny Farrell, Olin Dutra, Leo Diegel,
Denny Shute. Also accompanying the team photo is Price Edward. This large
photo itself is spectacular, but it also contains a 1930's autograph of Gene
Sarazen. This photo measures 12" x 16".

Joe,
Nice pickups. I especially like the picture. Are you going to have it framed? That would look great in a nice matte.
