I learned an expensive lesson this week. All your responses have been great and thanks for hearing me out.
I will probably continue to sell overseas but will lay it out front what the costs will be. As far as Paypal, they give me the following options: I have 10 days to respond with a tracking # (which I don't have). If I don't respond, the money will be refunded. - or - Refund the money to the buyer Whichever way you look at it, I am refunding the money. If you had a choice at this point, would you wait out the 10 days or would you send the money immediatly. Remember, that this buyer has refused to answer my emails and I have some suspicions about him. |

I've said it before and I'll say it again....Canada has the WORST postal system in the world. I ship hockey cards worldwide nearly weekly and it's almost without fail I will get two or three "Where's my item?" ebay messages a week from Canadian buyers. I always have the same response..."It's probably still in your customs..give it another week or two and let me know if you got the card or not." Meanwhile I am receiving feedback from buyers in European countries only days after I've shipped First Class International.

canada postal system does suck (alot), but to be fair they've been better lately than a couple years back. packages are getting there in about 5-6 business days now consistently. for that matter usps has also been great, first class packages taking only 2 days going from east coast to west vice-versa.
there are potential scammers anywhere. if it doesn't feel right just cancel the deal or send with tracking. |

I don't understand why you'll be out any money. If you insured the Mantle card, and will have evidence from paypal that says the card never arrived, shouldn't you be able to collect on the insurance?

I've had a doozy I've been going back and forth with Paypal for the past several weeks on a Domestic Order.
Customer placed a $30 order through one of my websites on December 3rd. Tracking says item was delivered on December 6th. Over a month later the customer claims an Un-Authorized transaction with their credit card company. Paypal freezes the funds in my account. Paypal wants info from me regarding the transaction within 10 days. I immediately send it to them with tracking number. I get ahold of the customer, and they say "Oh, we're so sorry, we don't have a Paypal account and we didn't know what the charge was for". ![]() We'll have our credit card company reverse the chargeback. 13 days later, Paypal sends me a message telling me they are disputing the chargeback on my behalf, but in the meantime we're going to subtract the cost of the order from your account...........+ we're going to bang you for a $20 chargeback fee, just because we can." .......and paraphrasing "Oh, but don't worry, we're in your corner and you may or may not get your funds back in the next 75 days or so". Gee, thanks Paypal. ![]() This is all after the customer told me they have already had the chargeback reversed through their credit card company. ![]() |

Personally i would wait it out. How long ago did you ship the card? (Canada/US times can be "hit or miss", at times i will get cards from the USA as fast as 3 or 4 business days, other times i wait 2 weeks to a month). Maybe it will arrive or if the buyer is scamming he will have a change of heart (doubtful). Regardless, i would wait the 10 days personally. Last edited by Bilko G; 01-30-2011 at 03:34 PM. |
