Here are two postcards I got in the mail today. I believe both are ca. 1912. The first one shows a shortstop wearing an Athletics jersey, and I believe it depicts Jack Barry, a member of Connie Mack's "$100,000 infield." The handwriting on the back reads, "I see you got a triple yesterday, keep up the good work." The second postcard shows Jim Thorpe, "The Greatest Athlete of All Times." The writing on the back says, "Sara Dean Lee, Mattie Ziegler, Bill Durfee?, Mr. Hunt?, and myself were there. Baseball game between Chambersburg and Carlisle, 14 innings, 2-1 in favor of Carlisle."

I believe Sara and Bill share the same last name but what that name may be is tough to tell. Great piece!

That Thorpe is great. It looks like you got it for a pretty nice price as well. A psa 5 sold for $900 a while back.

http://www.auctionscc.com/archive/20...morabilia/281/ I think mine is in the best condition of the three except for the writing, which doesn't really bother me. I think it's cool how it has an Olympic picture on the front, a Pop Warner (his football coach) reference on the back, and period writing about a Carlisle baseball game. It's appropriate for a Thorpe piece since he excelled at all three (and apparently basketball too). |

Dang, this C46 Imperial Tobacco Gandil was a hard card to find in any condition! Curse you Black Sox collectors!
![]() Thanks Dan. Thanks also to Richard for helping me get closer to completing this set. O'Hara is particularly difficult as the #1 card in the set. Last edited by tbob; 01-15-2011 at 10:08 AM. |

Snatched the 1906 Chicago Cubs team postcard from eBays Johnny Hustle for ~$110. I was determine to pay about $100 for one, and with alot of patience plus willpower, I persevered. Will reside next to a "Sporting News Archive" companion piece. It worked-out nicely.

Nice going Andrew (PUP6913). All I need is any Drum back and the Hoblitzell no stats to complete my set. You almost picked up both at the same time.

Recently, I've been able to pick up many different Zeenuts that I needed including 1913, 1916, 1917, 1919, 1921, 1922, 1931, 1932, 1933 Sepia, and a 1937-38. However, I was really hoping to find a "Chief" Johnson (1916, 1917, or 1918) and I got LUCKY!!! I don't know if it is even rare, but I really am interested in this guys story! Plus, I got lucky that this Satchel Paige premium popped up...Thanks to a few board members!!!
