Rhett - the first one you posted on the left is Joe Wall. I agree with your other ID's. Really nice photos. The E270 is not Byrne.

Thanks to Rhys and Rhett for helping me date the RPPC, and from there I consulted pictures in Spalding and Reach guides and came up with possibly the right person for the RPPC. I believe this RPPC dates from 1920-21 and is a photo of Chick Knaupp (William Lewis) who played for Nashville from 1920-22. Chick took over managing the Nashville club for Hub Perdue in 1921. Here is a team photo from a Spalding 1923 guide and Chick is #11. I believe it strongly resembles the RPPC, but will need confirmation from our Ear, Nose, and Throat Specialist! The uni's are from 1922 in the Spalding guide, and I noticed that the RPPC did not have the "N" on the sleeve, so perhaps the RPPC dates a year or two before 1922, which fits the time frame for Chick.... I am still researching for further confirmation, but with the RPPC time frame Rhys provided (18-21), it made the hunt a lot easier. Thanks again guys ! Any opinions are welcome -

Okkonen's book cites this Brooklyn uniform style as being used 1918-19 and 1922-24. Who is this guy? Thanks for any help!

I just wanted to make an update as I've been able to positively identify the player on the E270 Tin Top incorrectly identified as "Byrne" for Pittsburgh.
There was a thread recently where there was a link to the VintageBall.com website about postcards and the same image was again misidentified as Bobby Byrne, while with St. Louis NL on his 1908-09 Rose Co. postcard. http://vintageball.com/Rose.html This really changed my search as I had anticpating the image being from much later, 1912-13, when the Tin Tops were being produced--obviously seeing the image in a 1908-09 set indicated an earlier photograph and then it didn't take too long to realize it was actually an image of James Joseph Byrnes who only played in the majors w/ the 1906 Philadelphia Athletics. I'm sure when I initially started looking I had eliminated him as his Major League career was so much earlier than I was thinking. The funny part is that that exact same image was used to produce another card of Byrnes, while with the 1910 Tacoma NWL--his 1910 T212-2 Obak... ![]() So, much like Colgan's did with their E254 Ryan goof, in chich they used a 1903 Carl Horner image of Jimmy Ryan on their 1910 card attempting to depict Jack "Gulfport" Ryan. Here they used a 1906 Horner image of Byrnes w/ Phila AL in their attempt to depict Byrne on a 1912-13 set. Anyways, it feels good to put this one to bed. -Rhett

Those initial cabinets are incredibly clear for 1900. Beautiful shots!

Sorry Jeremy - I overlooked your question and just noticed it today. It's not possible to say for sure, but there is a good chance your guy is Knaupp. It may be worth looking for a newspaper photo of him. A good half-tone may help confrim it.
