I know that a relatively small proportion of collectors live in the south, but, living in Alabama, the last shows I attended were the 92 and 98 shows in Atlanta. However, there are better locations down here, one being New Orleans (great facilities and who's gonna beat the night life). Also centrally located would be Memphis (best barbeque and blues) and St. Louis. For those of us on limited travel budgets, sites within reasonable driving distances would really help.
