I recently sold a Pop 1 card with none grading higher for only $3. Meanwhile they are selling for $30-$50 BIN's with regularity. Was I upset I pratically gave mine away for peanuts? You betcha....did I go through with the sale? Of course.....it is only the right thing to do....I would neg the seller and complain to Ebay.

Brandon,

Normally, I'd agree that you should neg the seller that backed out. For a second though, I'll argue the other side.

Looks like the seller is a newbie, who may have marital problems if you were able to force the sale. Could you try? Sure. Is it worth it? I don't know. She may have enough problems to deal with.

With a feedback score of only 18, if you neg her, she can just close her account and open a new one.

Tough call. This could go either way.

Cut her some slack, it's good karma.

Default Not worth it

Yeah you could try to force it but the seller could just say they shipped it and, ooops, it didn't arrive. It's not worth the hassle. I'm sure we all have nabbed enough good deals to not worry about the few that get away.

It's at least a $400 - $500 pennant. If she sold it without the husband's consent, I would cut her some slack.

We all like to get great deals, but not at the expense of someone who doesn't know any better (especially when they have an angry spouse to answer to...)

I forgot a 0 once and listed a photo on ebay for $25 that should have been $250. It sold right away of course and never for a second did I consider not going through with the sale. It was my mistake and needed to live with it.

This account was opened on June 18th, 2000...I wouldn't really call her a newbie even though she has only 18 feedbacks in 10 years. I'd be willing to bet this isn't her only account.... someone probably got to her and she sold it at a higher price off ebay.

The auction ended. She's not even saying she made a mistake to sell it because it was sentimental to her husband and can't part with it but because the final price was not to his satisfaction. Guess what? That's how ebay works, or at least it used to until all the BINs. There are some unusual cases where I would let a seller off the hook but this is not it.

Contractional obligation to sell trumps seller's error or domestic dispute. It is wrong not to sell it to you. I would offer the seller a hardy negative, at the very least.

I won something cheap one time and the guy emailed that he just spilled grape juice all over it. LOL. I was gonna say, I don't care I still want it! But I would have just gotten another excuse like, I threw it out after the juice spilled on it, then the garbageman came! Like I said, it's hard to win in these cases.

I remember listing a ticket stub I had and after it sold I couldn't find it for a few days! I had the scan on my computer for some time so I didn't need to get it out to scan it. After initially looking for it I told the buyer I was having trouble locating it. i'm sure he thought I was lying, but it did turn up. just saying that sometimes there are legitimate reasons that sound like lies too.

I recently finished a transaction that must have seemed like that. I sold a postcard through my Ebay store and couldn't find it. Seriously, it was just plain gone. So I pulled the listings, refunded, and sent an apology and a promise to send the card when I found it. About a year later I find the stack of postcards at the bottom of a box of stuff the bottom batch of stuff was stuff for sale, the top of the box was stuff to sort. DOH!

Contacted her and sent the card. Nice to surprise someone and make them happy at the same time.

Thanks for all your replies; I don't find good deals all that often so I was pretty pleased to get this one, or so I thought. She actually wasn't able to refund me all my money(she still owes me $2.50) so maybe she needs the money from the pennant more than I do? I did send her an email expressing my displeasure but tried to be civil about it. Thanks again for your responses. Regards, Brandon

Hi guys, I'm new to the forum but wanted to weigh in on this issue. I just had the same conversation with my wife today about doing the right thing.

To the original poster, it stinks but you did the right thing.
