To the best of my knowledge the "Elmer" Concepcion story is true.
The other good Concepcion story is when he, for some reason, climbed inside a clothes dryer in the clubhouse and someone turned it on and Davey just went "round and round" until someone let him out. RC

A few of the 1919 Reds...
![]() ![]() Took me a while to dig these out. Wingo has that catcher's mitt, even if he isn't depicted with the Reds. |

And a couple from 1940. I'm glad McKechnie got into the Hall... And Hershberger's life certainly came to a tragic end.

This guy played for the 1940 Reds. He wrote a book that I thought was worth reading. Here are a couple of Goudey cards, and a couple of cards he sent me when we corresponded.

Jim Turner... what a connection he was with Casey Stengel, and eventually the Yankees. One really nice guy, and a great baseball man, Milkman Jim.
He was 14-7 for the 1940 Reds, he hit .240, and had a nice 2.89 ERA. ![]() |

Paul Derringer was 20-12 for the 1940 World Champions. This is a Rochester Red Wings minor league issue, an issue I'd like to see added to the Standard Catalog one day... about 8" x 10".

Great cards, guys!
Here are a couple more... We all know about Pete, but Griffey Jr. was so good that he made a lot of people forget that Griffey Sr. was no slouch in his own right. ![]() ![]() |

Well I tried to post some 1919 Reds without putting up members of the 1919 Reds who have T206 cards. Surely someone here collects those nice little white border tobacco cards. Two members of the 1919 Reds are depicted on T206s...
