Dan,
Nice eye, will you be slabbing this and sending it to a big auction house or is this going in a screw down in your old wooden box :-) Miss seeing you in Philly. Best James G

As you can see Jim, it is already slabbed in an SGC 3 holder. That is how I found it. To answer the value and the slabbing question, it has already been BUSTED out of that ridiculous tomb and properly SLID into my T206 binder where it belongs free of any grading garbage. Did I ever state how much I HATE grading??

You should start a survey on this "Y." flaw card. This "Y." flaw most likely resulted when the printer went a little too far in removing the "Nat'l" lettering in the caption. It is definitely scarcer than my "Printer's Mark" discovery. For the past 3 years, I have kept track of the Joe Doyle cards; and, only 8.3 % of the Joe Doyle cards have this printer's (remnant) mark out of 229 unique samples. A total of 19 cards have this "mark" and the majority of them are PIEDMONT 350 cards. To a lesser degree, they are SWEET CAPORAL 350. And, 2 of which are OLD MILL and 2 are POLAR BEAR backs. No "mark" has yet been seen on the Joe Doyle cards with an EPDG, or a SOVEREIGN, or a TOLSTOI back. Until very recent, I had not seen this "Y." flaw on any of the Joe Doyle cards. I would be very interested in knowing which backs are on these Joe Doyle cards with the "Y." flaw that you have (or have seen) ? ![]() printer's mark......................../\ ...........................(remnant from "N" in Nat'l) Best regards ole buddy, and my Best Regards to your Dad, TED Z Last edited by tedzan; 10-01-2010 at 07:53 AM. |

Ted, As I mentioned in my post, mine has an Old Mill back. Also mentioned in my post, I have another Doyle that has no stem on the "Y" in "NY" so it looks like " Doyle N.V."
Good luck with your new survey. Last edited by nodgrass; 09-30-2010 at 06:44 PM. |
