Leon,

Do you have any idea what year that (very cool) card was produced?

When I first saw the title on the main page I thought someone hacked Leon's account, especially with the "It's no sin to pour it in" part added to it.

I'm obviously not Leon, but it would have been between 1909 and 1919.

From The Baseball Biography Project . . .
Quote:
"I made the biggest mistake when I quit professional baseball in 1909 to enter business for myself." In any case, Sutthoff returned to Cincinnati and operated a saloon bearing his name at the intersection of St. Lawrence, Enright and Warsaw avenues -- on Price Hill, one of the Queen City's first outlying settlements.[14] Jack and Nellie Sutthoff's large family -- as well as Nellie's brother Jim Crowe, a railroad worker -- lived above the establishment. "Dad was an easy touch for credit," his son recalled. So many patrons were in his debt that he accepted goods when he couldn't get cash, including cameras, dumbbells and encyclopedias. In January 1920, as Sutthoff prepared to close his saloon in compliance with the arrival of Prohibition, he gave away what remained of his inventory of whiskey.

Hey Tim
Good guess. The grandson and myself put this card at between approx. 1910-1915.

Hello to all and many thanks to Leon. I want to also thank everyone who has replied to this and attached the articles and photos. Although I am not a collector of the really old stuff like you guys, I have collected cards since I was a kid, 70's to 90's. I still love the hobby but with a family of my own I really don't have the cash to do it properly anymore (maybe when the kiddies move out??). With all that being said I do VERY much want to get ANYTHING related to my Grandfather. I have the scan from Leon and will print a copy at work. What a great guy!, he was kind enough to talk with me for about a half hour and even post this thread to help me out. In closing I do hope he will eventually sell or trade that card to me someday. Im actually kind of proud that anyone even give a darn about my Grandfather's items!

I would love to get these items and display them for my family to see, we never got to meet the man and my father and all aunts and uncles are gone. Copies and photos are nice, but I am hoping to get the real things.
Thanks again!
Steve Sutthoff
