Jason,
It was my favorite card as a kid growing up in SE MO and remains my favorite post war card. I have multiple copies and for some reason still buy nice ones when I come across them. Here's a scan of a wrapper as well. ![]() ![]() Last edited by HRBAKER; 08-12-2010 at 09:52 PM. |

Funny you should mention that card as that is one that stuck out for me as a great combo card. Here is another card I picked up recently that inspired me to start this set, think I put it on the post-war pickups but oh well, worth posting again...

Great set with several interesting and tough variations ( some cataloged, some not), plus the 67 Roger Maris Yankee proof. Also a good year for Topps inserts and test issue: 67 Discs (regular and SF), 67 Pin Ups, 67 Punch Outs, 67 Stand Ups, 67 Red Sox and Pirate Stickers, and 67 Who Am Is.

Here are a few '67 Topps boxes. As I said I love this set, great clean photography, loaded with HOFers, aggravating high numbers and my favorite team won the WS that year. I was 8 and it brings back great memories.

Very nice card there Jeff. I'm searching for a high grade version of it for my PC. Flood was my Dad's favorite player and I gave him an autographed rookie for Christmas one year. Thanks for showing off the boxes and wrappers too.

Minty, I love the design of the '67's, they remind me of the 1957 cards, clean and crisp, and they have good colors.
Its one of my two favorite designs of the 1960's, along with 1963.

As for me, I would have to say the 1967 set is amongst my very favorite! I started collecting cards in 1971/1972 so the 67 set was long passed by beginning years. I remember seeing them for the very first time in the late 70s and immediately took a strong liking to the cards. It easily became my favorite set from the 60s and 70s. I love the crisp, colorful images...I always thought the photography was outstanding, but it was the bold colored pictures that captivated me. I wound up selling my collection as a young adult and got out of collecting for a number of years. I never forgot that near complete 67 set I once had - and honestly, the love I had for that set is what led me back to collecting. I have been working on my near complete set now for several years, always trying to upgrade and find just the right cards. It is definitely a set I would recommend to any collector and not a bad choice for you at all, Pat! Best of luck to you on putting it together!

I attended one game of that series, game 4 ( at 17). Also game 1 in 64 and game 5 in 2006....all in different stadiums in St Louis. Unfortunately I also attended games in 1968, 1982, 1985 , 1987 and 2004....but at least we got there.
1957 and 1967 are my favorite Topps sets, although 1959 is also special since it was the first one I finished Last edited by ALR-bishop; 08-13-2010 at 11:19 AM. Reason: typo |

Jeff---my mistake. That was a good one. My wife's grandfather was a long time stockholder and director at H&B. He and her father always got tickets for us to any World Series. In 82 we received the tickets from Pee Wee Reese who was in St Louis on a promotional role for H&B during the Series
