Unfriggingbelievable.
He is about to lose his first game today although he pitched well. (Against the mighty Royals). Didn't Rube Marquard win 17 or 18 games in a row his rookie season? How about Mark Fidyrich pitching in the All-Star game his rookie year? These bidders are absolutely insane. Let's hope they stay in the shiney card market. Personally I think this Starsburg card will have absolutely no effect on the pre-war cards. |

I myself do not think that it is being shilled. If he was trying to do that than would probably do a private listing but I could be wrong. I think that we are seing part of the new era of Baseball cards without 15+ companies issuing a rookie card making there value much higher but 100k is just plain stupid!

With 100k i could get Two Harleys, a double wide, and a wife with a full set of teeth! Dang, id be living large then! lol
100 k could get me a heck of a collection, cards, bats, balls, bike, boat....

his stats were still impressive.... especially seeing as they have him on a pitch count. Not really his fault his team cannot score a run!

Does anyone realize that the Strasburg card is now up to $102,000.

Took my boys to see him pitch this afternoon... struck out nine but didn't seem to have his best stuff. Never got over 98 on the radar. But the kid is for real... even if those bids aren't. No way someone is actually going to pay over $100K for that card.

i read the write up on the game and they blamed his pitching speed on the heat.... apparently you cant pitch quite as fast when it is hot out?
You never know what someone will pay for something they really want.... the high bidders have alot of feedback... remember what we were saying last week... no one would spend 16 k... the guy thought he got a great deal on the card! I seen him on tv talking about it

I don't think it's being shilled. At this point it would be completely stupid to do so. I do think a large majority of these large numbers will end up being fake bids from people screwing with the auction and the guy will never collect whatever the final bid on this ends up going off at. |
