Default A study in patience

I've been watching this on ebay for about a year at a $299BIN.
They finally put up for auction and I won it for much less.
Great book in excellent condition. My scanner isn't big enough to get the whole book.
Now I feel like Yoda.

16" wide x 5 3/8" tall x 5 3/8" deep
Picked this up at the PO today...learned about it at the National last summer...came across the photos while writing the 09' National story and rekindled the fire...guy still had it and made the deal

Matt, great looking bats. The Manush and Speaker are pretty tough bats to get.

I would have to agree with Jimmy on this being an incredible photo of The Big Train! Where did you find it if you don't mind me asking?

Default I'm doing this one backasswards...

I figured that between the Newspaper/Magazine photo archives available at auction, I will have a few opportunities to land a TYPE I photo of Aaron's 500th Home Run.

But there's a good chance I may not find another one of these...

Thanks Anthony, I'm hoping to hear from anyone who knows about the Harvard Cigar brand. I've seen advertising for Harvard Cigars before but none with rowing. Below a point of purchase Harvard Cigars dispenser of some kind I saw yesterday at a cowboy antiques show, plus a great ruby red color reverse glass sign that almost said Harvard....but no cigar!

Oh and Mike, No hints from Jimmy. You'll see it when he gets it. If I may say we both did very very well in the deal.

Yes... a visually stunning pair. Just beautiful... Congrats, Mark!

Also... Brock, those are great pickups. Like you, I just love those early chalkware figural pieces, and those are all some really tough finds. Many congrats to you as well!

Mark,
Thanks for the kind words.
The books themselves are in such great shape. The scans just don't do them justice.
At some point, I think they would look great framed together, but I hate not being able to get in and read them.

Yep... it's always tough to know what to do with these types of collectibles. I bet they'd be spectacular framed, given the gorgeous colors and graphics, matching images, and iconic subject matter.

On the other hand, you'll completely lose the function for which they were intended. Tough call, but I would read through them thoroughly, and then relegate them to display. They're just too pretty to sit on a coffee table or in a bookshelf!

Found an upgrade to a very poor Lenny Levy that I had from a couple of years ago. I've had a heck of a time finding one for my 1960 Pirates project, but thanks to Bill Corcoran for having this available! Doesn't get any better than
this.

Mark, that is a real nice pickup on the Robinson Baseball Bank. Recently, a rare version of this bank sold on the bay, it was a promotion for the movie "The Pride of the Yankees" and had a Gehrig facsimile. No doubt, both of these banks are insanely rare as you like to say.
