That's the man, Jim! Haven't heard hide nor hair of Bob M. in 15+ yrs. That Ferris Wheel in the background means we can place him in Cleveland in 1997... I heard from another forum poster that he was in S. America, or heading that way, or alleged to have disappeared there, not too long ago.
He used to have a hoard of vintage cards back when almost no one else did. Bill |

I was thinking Cleveland too. Pretty safe bet.

Bill,
I knew I wouldn't have to identify the location of where I took the picture of Bob. Bob was quite active in collecting from the mid-1980s and through the 1990s as I recall. He was my main competitor for SL Cabinets during that time. Then came two more gentlemen, Tom B. and Scott B., to increase the competition. Seems that some people just get in the act when you're trying to corner the market! It's been many years since Bob sold his collection, got divorced, and left the country. Exactly where he went and where he might be today I don't have a clue. http://home.roadrunner.com/~jspillman/webbb.htm |

For those scoring at home...
The full T204 set on REA was at $47.5K at 1am last night after 12 hours of inactivity, when someone upped it to $60K ($70.5 with the vig), where it closed. That's a very healthy $578 per card for a set that included a majority of cards in VG or less. This was the same set that sold for $45K in 2007. The PSA 8 Donlin with the (ahem) fat borders and the PSA 5 Burkett also did well. Burkett is now priced roughly around the same as Plank, based on the past year's results. Bill |
