Went to a toy & comic show a couple of weeks ago and one guy had an open container of '61 Topps cards, all in individual sleeves. They were the only cards in the place. He had $2.00 each marked on the container so I naturally grabbed a handful and had a look. Not a lot of big names, mostly commons with HOF'ers Robin Roberts and Dick Williams and some semi-stars like Billy Pierce and Joe Adcock, but I was struck by the beautiful condition of the cards. They were pretty well all in EX-MT. He had 79 in total so I asked him how much for the lot. He said $80. I said I'll think about it. I left the show and came back knowing I had to make an effort to get his cards. I was going to offer $60 but at the last moment I decided on $40 and he took it. I don't usually buy card lots but I was thrilled to get those beauties for 50 cents a pop.
