I don't see it as rude. You are not offending anybody, well.....except for your wallet. Heck, maybe a flipper purchased it and they will be happy to sell it to you for 100% profit. Go for it, no pain no gain.

I would do it without hesitation. In the "good old days" of ebay, we used to contact each other all the time, to make trades, side deals, etc. I have both sold and acquired stuff this way, and there's nothing at all wrong with it. It was... dare I say.... fun!
The worst he can say is "no" and even if he does, neither of you are any worse off. As the winning bidder, I would typically be thrilled to receive an offer of double what I paid. Best of luck! |
