Default 1904 New York Giants Old Timers Game Program

McGraw's refusal to participate in a "World's Series" in 1904 led the Giants scrambling to appease frustrated fans.

This "Old Timer's Day" game against the 1889 squad was their solution.

When I purchased the Falk photo the auction description said "circa 1905" and on the back in period ink was written "1905". Board members have written me asking when the picture was dated to and my answer was 1905. This fantastic poster nails it down better. Same with the McGraw roto. It's difficult to read but does it say "Photos by Falk" underneath McGraw?

Default In 1884, Washington ...

fielded teams in 2 of the 3 major leagues, the American Assn. and the Union Assn. As the summer progressed, the AA team did much worse than the UA team and lost much of its fan support. The AA team's manager was fired after the August 1st home game against the NY Metropolitans (with HOFer Tim Keefe). Following a 6 - 5 loss to the NYMs on August 2nd, the Wash. AA team was disbanded (their final record for 1884 being 12 wins and 51 losses). Below are (1) a scored score card for the final 8/2/1884 game (Keefe played center field), upon which the fan wrote in the margin "Washington Club disbanded after this game," and (2) A Wash. AA 1884 schedule upon which presumably the same fan wrote "disbanded this date" right next to the August 2nd date. Sorry my pics don't do these pieces justice - I don't have a scanner and I am lousy with a camera!
