I'm not sure why Adrian Gonzalez isn't getting more attention. Did anybody notice the season he had for the Padres last year? Playing in a pitcher's park with an anemic lineup surrounding him, he hit 40 home runs. Plus, he has a tremendous batting eye. I think he's the biggest prize available on the open market this year ...

You can probably count on one hand the number of guys who are 10 year+ veterans and have played for the same team since coming up. It seems loyalty has shifted from players to the "brand".

People in Minnesota are normally placid, quiet and reserved but if Buffet Bill Smith and the boys don't sign hometown hero Joe Maurer there will be an uproar among fans unwitnessed previously in MLB.
Maurer taking less money to stay at home and play for his home state team is not unprecedented, Kent Hrbek once did the same thing. As a fan who has cheered for the Twins since their first year in the Twin Cities, I am holding my breath but confident Joe stays home.
