D. Broughman,
Thank you very much for the link to baseballglovecollector.com Jim Daniel was able to help me a lot. Here is what he had to say about the ball.

"This is a total lemon peel baseball. They date upwards to the 1860's & 70's. They started going to the figure eight style in the 70's. It is next to impossible to date these specifically as they were all homemade but that is an 1860's style. They are very desirable even with the split seam." He estimates the value at between $300-$500 dollars. I am probably going to list it on ebay Saturday night with the minor league pennants from the early 1900's that I posted about.
