I hear you on that one...

As a Reds fan (and the way baseball is now structured), I seriously doubt I will live long enough to see them win another World Series. I would do well to live another 30 years, and would guess the odds are severely against them winning another one in that time-frame.

At least I lived to see '75, '76 and '90... which was a miracle. I now live in Seattle, and would love to see the Mariners do it too. If it's any consolation, the odds for the M's are much greater than for the Reds. At least they can contend...

Default From the Christy Walsh Family.

Vintage original TYPE I 1927 World Series photograph that Walsh himself hand lettered the caption (he was also a cartoonist). This exact photo was used in his book entitled "Adios to Ghost" that was published more than a decade later.

The raw photo with Walsh's editing marks...

The cropped and finished version which was used in the aforementioned book...

That is too cool, Jimmy... incredible photo! But I wonder what Christy Walsh had against the poor guy on the extreme left?

That guy is Walsh.

(Of course your comment may have been sarcastic, and you knew very well that was Walsh.)

Default Actually Guys...

the fellow that has a big X on him was New York sportswriter and Lou Gehrig confidant Fred Lieb. Walsh is next to Ruth on the far right.

Best, Jimmy

Default Last But Not Least

Here I was at the game last night not realizing that I had at the same time obtained new Yankees World Series memorabilia! Had to share.

What a game! What a team!

Default Another from the Christy Walsh Family...

Just like my earlier post showing the before & after images from the 1927 series, comes this vintage original TYPE I 1928 World Series photograph that Walsh himself hand lettered the caption (he was also a cartoonist). This exact photo was used in his book entitled "Adios to Ghost" that was published more than a decade later.

BTW... the Yanks disposed of the Cards in four straight becoming the first team in history to register back to back World Series sweeps.

The raw photo with Walsh's editing marks...

1936 World Champs Ball with Lou Gehrig on the sweetspot and a very rare Rookie Joe D. Very pretty Dizzy Dean Ball as well. Sorry for the shameless plug, as I am selling this to help pay Hunts. Please check the B/S/T thread for pricing...
