It was Earl Averill Day at Cleveland, Aug. 3, when the handsome American League hit leader was presented with a new automobile as some 30,000 fans celebrated. For the visiting Red Sox batting ace, First Baseman Jimmy Foxx, the Clevelanders also had a tribute - A bat full of holes.
