Not much sports action in this, but I think it exemplifies hockey in the 1920s. A shot of the Saskatoon Shieks travelling on the Canadian prairies. From ex-Ranger Andy Aitkenhead's estate

True "Cagers" back in the day when they actually played the game inside a fenced-in court with no out-of-bounds:

YazFan —
Great card of a great fighter — but he wasn't from Portland. "Mysterious" Billy Smith, who was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame this past June, was a Canadian from Little River, Nova Scotia, and won the first officially recognized world welterweight championship on April 17, 1893. Towards the end of his career he moved to the West Coast, opening a hotel and Turkish bath in Yakima, Washington, and then a saloon in Portland, where he died on Oct. 15, 1937. |

As I live in Vancouver, no need to wear the sweater as we wear shorts and T-shirts in the winter, and leave the snow and cold to the rest of Canada ![]() The Sheiks' items particularly appeal to me, as I'm originally from Saskatoon Max Last edited by baseballart; 09-03-2009 at 02:17 PM. |
