I think this is probably just a page from an old book, but information would be appreciated...who is it and can anyone identify the source? Back is blank; the paper is slick. Thanks in advance!

As a collector of Eddie Plank, who was born, scouted, lived & died locally in Gettysburg PA.
For my birthday (yesterday) my wife took me today to a new resturant in Gettysburg commemorating Eddie Plank, called "Gettysburg Eddies" Very cool place w/ a ton of photos of Eddies (no cards) Ironically it is Eddie Plank's birthday today. No one at the resturant knew that. ![]() I picked up some take out menu's, only have a few, so if anyone wants one let me know, 1st come 1st served ![]() |

Oldtix - I sent you an email about the picture that you posted.
I don't get to post much on this board, but here is my contribution. A 1932 photo of Rube Walberg & Chief Bender. The paper caption reads - "They still have that old control. On the left is Rube Walberg, southpaw of the Mackmen, who yesterday broke 46 clays out of 50 in a shoot for baseball stars at Bustleton. At the side of the Nordic southpaw is Chief Bender, once a great money pitcher for the Athletics, who finished just one "bird" behind the paleface." Another aspect about this photo. At one point it appears as though someone cut the photo into two pieces, then put it back together for the newspaper photo. The cut line is to the right of Rube's head and goes all the way down his left arm, around Bender's gun barrel and follows Rube's leg & shoe to the bottom of the photo. I don't know much about these types of photos, but I found this kind of interesting. Jantz Last edited by Jantz; 01-16-2010 at 11:58 AM. |
