Hi Mike,
The set was first issued after the Reds won the pennant. It was subsequently reissued after the world series, thus you have two versions. I have heard certainly claims that one issue is particularly more difficult than the other; however, as an active collector of the set, I do not share those sentiments. People often claim that the Daubert is a variation as the text is printed across the top of the card. However, every Daubert card I have seen is like this. [Anyone seen anything else like this?]. Hope that helps. If you need any more help with the set, you can contact directly. Ted |

Mike, we did a "mini-article" on the PC799 Cincinnati Reds postcard set in Issue #39 of the Old Cardboard eNewsletter (see http://www.oldcardboard.com/eNews/20.../eNews39.htm#2). The article is also listed in the Article Index linked from the home page of the Old Cardboard website.
There is also a Set Profile, Checklist and Gallery of the complete 24-card set on the Old Cardboard website at http://www.oldcardboard.com/pc/pc799...?cardsetID=931. Hope this helps, Lyman |

I think he will consign the card to us. I am pretty sure the Daubert is on the list --- stay tuned.

No problemo MD. Shoot me an email if you need any help (blacksoxfan a/t/ cardpricer.com)
Post Script: One of the examples I have in my collection is one of my favorite cards. It's of Ray Fisher and has an "advertisement" on the back - that is actually a survey. You can see the back by clicking on the image: http://www.blacksoxfan.com/reds.php#ray Last edited by CardPricer.com; 08-11-2009 at 08:17 PM. |

Not sure, but I just spoke with the owner of the cards; he mailed them to us today. I will post some scans when I receive them.

I wil post some scans later tonight. We have the following players (11 total postcards):
Larry Kopf - interesting, as it is the only one with white borders on the sides as well as the bottom (no border on top) - VG / VG-EX Greasy Neale - VG-EX Charles See - VG-EX Jake Daubert - information written on top - VG-EX Pat Moran - VG-EX Sherwood Magee - VG-EX Eddie Gerner - VG-EX Heinie Groh - VG / VG-EX Jimmy Smith - VG-EX Hod Eller - VG-EX Rube Bressler - VG-EX Not sure if we should sell them raw (and, if so, on Net54, as opposed to eBay) or if we should get them graded. Thoughts?

Hi Mike,
As always - graded cards "tend" to sell for a premium. Whether you should incur the cost is something you will ultimately have to answer for yourself. If you are selling privately to an active and knowledgeable collector, then they might not have any concerns with the grading process. As with most any issue, mid-grade cards such as these might not bring in significantly more dollars as you are a reputable dealer. This issue does not have any "key cards" and can be found with relative ease in the condition you have described. |

There are 3-4 different types....
Besides the types you mentioned, they can be found with the name etc. at the top above the picture. I am not sure if it was just an accident and cut wrong, but they are out there (Ive owned 2). Im also not sure if both types can be found with the name at the top, the ones I had were "World's Champions". Last edited by fkw; 08-14-2009 at 05:18 PM. |
