Since I don't really collect post war and have acquired my favorite piece in my collection from the estate of Nixey Callahan, I have collected a few of his cards....

My pre-war favorites are Eddie Grant, Pepper Martin and Ernie Lombardi, and my post-war favorites are Vada Pinson, Enos Slaughter and Minnie Minoso ...

I had a tough time choosing Gehrig over Ruth and Clemente over Mantle. but the deciding factors for me was there is far fewer collectible items of Lou then Babe. And the Mantle/Clemente ratio is night & day.
I do enjoy the challenge...who doesn't. Here's an example. Just how many game action "batting" photos do you see of Gehrig and Clemente compared to Ruth and Mantle. Well, I can't say that my contribution will even mean anything, since I don't collect...
However, if I had the means, I would probably stick in the pre-war era, and my boys would be Carl Hubbell and Lou Gehrig.
