Well, as JimVB already pointed out, this was for sale at Goodwin and Co.'s table at the National, so if it can happen with a Lajoie, my guess is that it can happen with a Stengel:

I did see the Stengel that Phil referenced on the table, so my question wasn't really tongue in cheek. I didn't remember it being in a PSA holder.

It was definitely in a 1 holder, could have been SGC and not PSA though.

The same thing happend to me with Goodwin. 7 Years ago I went to a show in Houston. And Goodwin was there. He had a 1964 Topps Ed Mathews PSA 9, about a Pop 3 at the time. I ended up trading for it and when I got hope I checked his past auctions and this card was just sold around 4-6 months before the show for 2400.00. And at the show he was asking only 1000.00. At the time I just assumed either the buyer didnt pay for the item or it was returned. Who knows

At least JP puts a bit of an effort in by having the certs on the cards changed.
