Pee Wee Reese, 1940 to 1942
Arky Vaughan, 1943, 99 games at short


I think there are more trio's than we suspect...

Technically, Frank you are correct....when Reese served in WWII, Vaughn replaced him at SS for the Dodgers.

This succession is valid, but not quite the same as rookies succeeding veteran players.

1) Who is the only player to have identical batting average, home run, and R.B.I. totals in two consecutive seasons?

2) Who is the only player to hit exactly 40 home runs for four consecutive seasons?

I think I had 2 right answers up there that antedate Williams, Yaz, & Rice, in fact my two groups did it before either Yaz or Rice were born.

1- Kelly, Frisch, and Horsnby
2- Durocher, Reese, and Vaughan
