I'd like to see the scan up on the board. If someone else hasn't posted it for you, please email it to me and I'll get it up.

Does the card have very white borders? It might have been bleached or Oxycleaned a bit... I've never seen nor heard of a green back on these.

Default Probably.......

Chemically removed from a scrapbook. This will cause the ink to change colors.

Default residue

As Scott said it looks like it has some residue on it and was taken from a scrapbook. It might look more "green" in person due to that...

It is pretty white,i just thought it was strange that this was the only card out of 219 that looked this way. This collection did come from REA, maybe the previous owner tried the bleaching and did not like it? Also it does have residue on the back,as some of the cards have been removed or taken out of a scrap book.

Hey Chris,

I got the scans you emailed, I'm home for lunch and see that Leon's already posted it.

The front borders look very white. When looking at the back of Duffy, the one on the right, the borders look wobbly, not straight. If he's loose I'd soak him one time, for 2 reasons. 1- some of that non-original residue might release, thereby unaltering the card. 2- if someone did bleach it a bit, a soaking overnight would help to dilute any remaining chemicals, making them less likely to affect the card in years to come.

I'm posting the front scan you sent so folks can see that a bit of the image on the front of Duffy is gone, especially in the top right. That could be from a bit of bleaching, or it could be from other causes. Also, Foxen is a name I recognize from series 2 of those great Old Mill red border cards...

Frank W.

If I recall correctly according to REA's lot description, both of those are trimmed, so already knowing it is trimmed may lend increasing weight to the possibility it was "cleaned" as well.
