Default Integrity

It's a beautiful card and I'm sure there must be more than one with similar identify features. I trust Joe as much as I trust anyone in this hobby. If Joe tells you something about his card you can believe him. His integrity and reputation in this hobby mean everything to him.

Here here! I have had numerous dealings with Joe over the years. He is honest as they come, always displays integrity, and has schooled me a lot on some of the inner workings of some of the pre-war cards that I've added to my collection.

From the scan, I surely do not see a badly trimmed card as described in the intial post-- perhaps I am blind. I'll join in the chorus that Joe is as good as they come.

Brian,

Who have I "slammed"??? certainly not the seller, who I stated in the first sentence of my very first post is, in my experience, a quality person to deal with?

Did I "slam" SGC in the same post when I said I think they are the best around?

Did I "slam" either SGC or Joe when I reiterated my feelings regarding their professionalism in handling this matter and in any other dealings in subsequent posts?

All I did was tell a story about a card (a very scarce card) that I believe with almost 100% certainty was once mine, and was graded as trimmed by three separate graders. I dont stand to profit in any way from this card being regraded an "A" any more than you do.

I don't care if anyone believes me or not at this point, but really, why in the hell would I make this up? I have been a member of this board since Elliot ran it years ago and before it was even on N54, and I doubt that anyone would categorize me as an attention seeker.

Perhaps I should have just contacted the seller or SGC directly to begin with. Fine, I can accept that, and I apologize if I have created much ado about nothing. However, my only motive was to let people know that there is a high-priced item for sale that may not be what it seems to be.

Default straw man

Chris never suggested that Joe had done anything wrong, so the "defense" of him (although he deserves all the kudos) is beside the point. The only question raised is whether SGC perhaps mistakenly slabbed a trimmed card.

Or did SGC mistakenly reject a card as trimmed that wasn't? I have heard many stories of a card with clear provenance that is rejected once or more eventually getting slabbed.

Another question -- is it even the same card? As mentioned earlier, I'd love to see a scan of the card raw...

At least its an SGC slab, and they can be trusted to do the right thing in standing behind their service.

Definitely possible, but odd that two other grading companies did too.

Sure, a scan of the card raw would be great, but Chris doesn't have one, I know I don't keep all my old card scans either.

I'm also confident that SGC will make it right.

Default my take

Much to do about not a whole lot here, imho. It seems Joe has the reputation most can only hope for. I think I even know Joe from the Nationals too or have at least done deals with him. At any rate Chris has been on the board a long time and I will vouch for him any day of the week. I feel this is an honest mistake....just not sure where the mistake is.
