Jay,
Put me down as a maybe. It would depend on cost, time commitments, etc.

The cost is nothing but your time. There is no time constraint as this is to be a casual thing. Basic rule of the draft is that there will be a time limit from the time a pick is made until the next one is made. The draft for the first season will be the longest as will be drafting an entire team. Following seasons will only involve drafting of players to replace those that were released or retired.

Once the draft is done, it only takes the sim a minute or so to play out a whole season. When we get to 1901 we can set up 2 divisions and a playoff format.

Are you drafting and running simulations on a season by season basis or are you mixing players from different years. For example, Barnes and Stivetts never played together. Also, are you including a pitchers batting stats into the mix? For example, are Hecker's batting stats a part of the simulation? I'd almost have to assume so.

Details, please... this sounds like fun.

It's a season by season thing. The only players eligible for the draft for the 1871 are season are players that played season and the same goes for each year. We will need to hash out minimum games played in real life to determine eligibility, but all of this will be worked out later.

Pitchers hitting stats are used.

those interested in these types of fantasy baseball games should also check out ootp (out of the park baseball). It is far and away the best simulation game around. however, for this particular league, where people may not want to pay money to buy the game, Diamond Mind might work best.
