Barry, I'm almost positive it was Davies. At the time he was uncatalogued, and there was a smidge of doubt in my mind that perhaps it was not-yet-HOFer George Davis instead of George Davies, who played only very briefly for the Spiders. Yes, the ad was in SCD and I contacted you to see if it was still available. You sent a xerox copy and a brief note that it was sold. I kept the copy as part of my research, but alas, that project, while still somewhere, is probably in that proverbial safe place where I won't find it.

Note that known images of Davies are scarce as far as I know, I have only seen a woodcut. I have never seen a reproduction of his Just So card.

I just went through my file of old SCD ads and it was in fact Davies. Unfortunately, the picture used in the ad is smaller than a postage stamp and blurry, almost useless. But it was definitely him. So at least it can be confirmed as existing.
