Yes, I read your post. If you read my question, you'll see that I'm asking for opinions on cheaper and slimmer scanners. The CCD scanners are $150+ and are not as portable. I simply need something I can setup/scan/store in a matter of minutes, because I have no where to put a scanner.

Sorry, I don't doubt your claim that CCD is the balls for scanning slabs, but I'm specifically asking for feedback on less-than-ideal options. Is that OK?

Nice. Is it very portable/storable? My issue is that I don't have a permanent home for a scanner, so I plan to store it in the closet and use as-needed. As such, the reason the LiDE one caught my eye is because it uses the USB connection for power, but these CCD ones seem to require a separate power cord.

Tex,
It uses a USB connection and is very easy to use. I hope this answers your question.

Tex,

Don't know anything about this brand, but it appears to be portable.

I just purchased the Canon 8800F. My scans just don't look the same as those posted. What settings are you using ? Output resolution ? Descreen? etc. Need help to make the images clearer. Thanks Mike
