Sorry no cards or photos, but I've always liked Bender, mainly to to his Phila. Am. statis, and associated with Dickinson College. Gettysburg always had Plank and Matthewson of Bucknell, but "we" (me, Dickinson '82, man, that was long ago

Bender Address: White Earth Agency Attended Carlisle 7/5/1896 - 5/14/02 Father: Albert Bender (German), Mother: living, fullblood Chippewa. height at arrival: 5'3" Weight: 101 lbs. Graduated class of 1902. Captain of baseball team 1901-02. Also: expelled for "treachery to baseball team" Entered school at grade 4. Attended Dickinson Prep School in Carlisle. [I believe that was known as "conway hall"]. Married: Marie (German-American) Owned a house in Philadelphia. Would love to know more about -- Also: expelled for "treachery to baseball team" Dickinson College, last year, finally recognized him with a plaque and flag pole at their baseball field. |
