"Strange things are happening".....OK, you trivia buffs.....who used to say that on TV ?
Anyhow, Pete Jablonowski's major league career started in 1927 with Cincinnati. In 1932, pitching for the Newark Bears, he had an 11-1 (W-L) record. And, batted .300 helping the Bears win the International League pennant. The Yankees were very impressed with him and brought him up for the 1933 season. At the end of that season he married Aldora Leszcynski. She insisted he change his name since she didn't want to be called "Aldora Leszcynski Jablonowski". So, he changed it to Pete Appleton. The change appeared to help his pitching career. He had his best season in 1936 with Wash- ington....winning 14 while losing 9. ![]() ![]() TED Z |

Jack Quinn started pitching with the New York Highlanders in 1909. He enjoyed a long Major League
career. Here Jack is in the 1933 set pitching for the Brooklyn Dodgers. Jack Quinn is the only active ballplayer to be in the T206 set and the 1933 Goudey set. ![]() TED Z |

Thanks for your input, guy.
Looking over the tally list of the Goudey's....we have 140 cards accounted for. This is a little more than a 1/2 complete Goudey set. It would be nice to see 99 more cards. However, I realize that many of these 99 cards are just commons; and, most of you collect the stars. Therefore, I do not expect that we will complete this set here. In any event, it's a great set that does not quite get the respect it deserves on this forum. Let's try at least to achieve a 3/4 complete set. Thanks, T-Rex TED |
